There're some bad moments, clumsy animations and poorly made models. The game's age is not an excuse. Локализация хороша только голосом Ливанова. В ней хватает ошибок и опечаток, некачественной актерской игры и значительного несоответствия субтитров произносимым фразам. Голос Лестрейда вообще ужасен и неестественнен.. If you get easily salty cos of bad game mechanics then you shouldn't play this game. In general I'd suggest everyone to play this game with a walkthrough of it, so everytime when you get stuck you can check the walkthrough and progress further in the game. I play a lot of detective games and I got stuck a lot of times in this game, cos sometimes you literally have to find a bunch of hair somewhere which you can super easily overlook. And if you reach the point in the game where you have to sneak past a guard and the guard dog: SAVE IMMEDIATELY! Because if you fail to sneak past them, the investigation is over and you have to re-load a save. Since this game does not have autosave, it has happened to me that I forgot to save for quite a while, got caught by the guards and lost progress of almost an hour. And if you reach the point where you're in a forest which is kind of like a maze: SAVE IMMEDIATELY AGAIN! Because the same thing will happen again if you fail this mission. Some of the puzzles did not make any sense to me, even with the help of the walkthrough. And the story can get super confusing at one point cos it's connected with so many side stories and I gotta admit that I lost track of what was happening halfway through the game. Still played it until the end cos I wanted to know who the murderer was. All in all the game wasn't bad. Some mechanics were weird, some puzzles didn't make sense and the story is confusing but it still was an experience and fun to play through it. I'd say buy it when it's on sale so you won't regret spending the whole amount on it (let's be honest, the price is too high). You can finish it within 8-10 hours.. I've read little of the original stories from Conan Doyle but this game does get the feel of them. Less puzzle loaded and more clues and plot oriented, the game helps you keep track of the case by reviewing the main topics discovered at the end of each day. Also, the backgrounds are imensely developed, and so are the voice acting and speech of the characters. What a change from the shabby Mystery of the Mummy.. Sherlock Holmes : The Silver Earring is a point and click puzzle game about the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, solving a murder case. This game is not bad, the first part (Day 1) is the best part since you control Sherlock holmes in the crime scene collecting evidence and questioning people. But it starts falling apart near the end when the plot becomes complicating and everything stops making sense. The graphics were so dated but I understood since it was released back in 2004 but it looks a bit too dated like N64 graphics and the shadows were bad and sometimes the shadows get stuck into objects (yeah sounds stupid, I know) and the lighting was really bad, its either too dark or too bright. And don't get me started on the voice acting, the quality was horrible for most of the characters and the dialog sounded like it was read by people reading news papers with ZERO emotions, specially the main villain, he sounded like he was recording for a commercial. The music sometimes was louder than the dialog and was annoying sometimes. The animation was basic with the main charaters having a Tank-like motion and the sometimes controlling was very bad specially with the timing parts.I ONLY RECOMMEND this game for the people who like mystery games and solving crimes but the game itself wasn't that good.. overall a good point n click. I like all the games in this series. The game is in many ways extremely flawed. The GUI is a complete pain, especially in portions where Sherlock needs to be moved around with precision, as he requires several second to just turn around, even when trying to avoid guards, and the game world is filled with invisible walls. The fixed third-person perspective also often turns the game into pixel hunt. Besides that, the game also pointlessly makes the player manually select dialogue options, even though all need to be cycled through, and all are recording in the journal, so there's no need to ever revisit them.Meanwhile, the story does make for an entertaining enough whodunnit, which isn't dampened even by the dismal voice-acting. At the end of each chapter the game makes the player pick the right clues to yield the correct deduction, which is a neat feature, as it prompts the player to pay attention and use their noggin, instead of just clicking on everything and letting Sherlock do the reasoning. For most part, the deductions are sensible, too, though all the contrived puzzles people use to lock their saves and whathaveyou certainly push the limits of believability.. What could have been a really engaging story, with decent puzzles to keep the player engaged and provide a sense of participation/accomplishment, is unfortunately let down rather badly by poor game mechanics and puzzle choices. It is generally not possible to progress from an area until you have discovered every single clue there is, which is fair, but in that case those clues should be easier to find (with the difficulty resting on the subsequent puzzles and deductions). What this game does is leave the player furiously scrabbling for walkthroughs, or in my case, several walkthroughs, to find the answers to puzzles that are not just hard, but outright nonsensical. In one case, every walkthrough I have found simply gave up and brute-forced the answer through repeat tries.Unfortunately this all culminated in a stealth scene that, if failed, fails the entire game (which is a bit steep for a game without autosaves, didn't I mention? SAVE OFTEN!). Maybe it was the conversion to newer systems with expanded graphics, but character movements glitch through, over and behind objects, and this seems to have disrupted the mechanics of that scene, making it impossible to succeed, even when following walkthroughs to the letter. As such, the game was unplayable beyond that point, which I am told is about halfway through. So unless you see indications that these problems have been fixed, save yourself the expense... and the pain of an endlessly looping soundtrack as Holmes combs every square inch of every level with his magnifying glass, seeking THAT one final clue.Elementary, my dear Watson. Don't buy it!. I was able to get past the resolution issues and floating characters,etc....was actually enjoying the game....until I got to that sneaking scene for the train yard.It has to be the dumbest, most frustrating thing I've ever played in my gaming career. Whoever decided to put that in the game\/designed it needs to GTFO the gaming industry. I can't believe frogwares is still in business with this like this. This is one of the very few trashy games I've played that made me want to hit something.
